Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition
In AE, at first I’m picking Yun because Daigo use him (in Street Fighter world, this beast inspired most of people who play this game) and Yun… Or should I say, twins… Give a big impact in this series. But later on, if you want to become great player, not only mimic your idol will succeed you, but you have to have mind set and your own game play will reflect you. I drop Yun (and soon in 2012 twins got nerf… Will not as too good as now) and I think will main Gouki / Akuma.
Basically, not only I have experience with shoto (Ryu) in vanilla / chocolate version, but I love akuma vortex game. Lots of mixup including safe jump, ambigous jump, but sometime the mixup doesn’t safe if you don’t use properly.
My experience use Akuma still very dull, compare my experience use Ryu. Lot of match up I haven’t familiar yet, making me in (more) disadvantage when play against like blanka, fuerte, etc.
This 23 October, will be turney for SSF AE and MVC. The strongest candidate from previous achievements, I think neo jef will very hard to beat due his Viper / Ibuki strong enough for our local. Also I can see the gap between me and him.
Myself using akuma still have difficult time to match viper & ibuki.

Marvel VS Capcom 3
Maybe same as Tekken, I’m not really good playing this game. I still cannot use assist properly, combo not consistent, often to drop combo.
From my own point of view, I see Arka is the best player to date In our local. Very confusing against him… His mixup is ridiculous. Good using assist. Good punishing (assist), good spacing. Overall he knows what he do, not like me which I’m not really know what I’m gonna do.
Not that dumb, but, when I’m trying to apply my own strat… It doesn’t work out as easy as that… -_-
On november, we’ve got our friend from Medan & USA.. Hope we can play with them

so I decided to continue writing, and put some minor change about the site. Previously, mostly I just share about my specialty in Fighting Games… But now, I’m thinking to expand more other than fighting games, so I can share my thoughts also in foods, tv shows, music,  movie, games exclude fighting games, etc.  To  put all those things, I can say those are my entertainment after the hectic due the works at the office. Maybe it will become more general than before, so any feedback from readers, I really appreciate it

I already wrote the report about the 1st tournament, so I’ll write the Tournament that VGI held last March 22 at Jakarta and VEGA friendly Tournament yesterday at Bandung (April 12)

Part 1: VGI Tournament 7 March 22, Jakarta

VGI held their 7th Tournament and this time they held Street Fighter Tournament for both consoles (PS3 & 360). Each player can buy max 3 tickets, either for same or different character. The participants are sooo many, it’s more than Kotak Game Tournament (coz they only limited to 64 players but people who came just around 50). With total of each player that can buy 3 tickets, the total participant almost around 150++ characters (maybe the players fewer than that)

As for myself, I pick 2 tickets for PS3 (Ryu & Zangief) and 360 (Ryu). Oh not forget to mention that there’s japanese player also join this tournament, and he is Juntaro (Ryu & Sagat), based on his explanation, now he works in Singapore but he came to Indonesia for holiday. Before the tournament begins, we had spare time to playing some casual games. I had chance to play with him, againts his sagat & ryu, while I’m using erufan’s HRAP (my sparring partner. ) [note: this morning, I practice abit using my EX2 360, and when I playing with HRAP, I oftenly jump accidently... crap! So when playing casual, I never pull FADC ultra, shoryuken did happend!!U(@(*&*@^&*@^&@^]

after had some games with him, now I understand why in japan many players always doing zoning and zoning & playing safe, not like in here, which is always doing happy jump and do some reckless shoryuken partee….

after frustated a bit, I decided to play with pad because I play with less mistakes than using HRAP, because still not used play with HRAP and scare for do horrible mistake that can make me lose.

The Tournament started, both my Ryu win, but my gief lose to manz, still paranoid against gief and not so much experience having matchup about him.

In this tournament I faced Foxy (rufus), erufan (chunli), newtype (ryu),  ali (blanka). Ali beat my ryu, so I lost 2 tickets. And my last ryu survived to quarter finals. And there are: me (ryu), Ali (Blanka), Juntaro (ryu, he forfeit his sagat), and Meiji.

My 1st match was againts Ali (again), after got raped with blanka, I thinking how to beat him and discuss with some other ryu players (eddy ch & mike), and after analysis about his gameplay, I play the 1st game on the quarter final. Yeah, facing blanka is really pain in the ass if you don’t know how to handle him. his slide evade projectiles, beware of his rolling EX (both horizontal and vertical), try to poke his horizontal roll but failed because he’s EX was so fast! Made some mistakes in the 1st game, like missed the block string, wrong combo, etc. Fortunenately it just minor mistakes, I won tied, 3-2… morale of this match: never get close when blanka has revenge bar! never spamming hadoken!!!

and the match continue to Meiji (Honda) vs Juntaro (Ryu). Meiji had a terrible matchup because his opponent is a well experienced player, he know how to handle many characters and honda is one of it. While meiji oftenly using the weakness of player by using the anti of character or character that seldomly played. Juntaro won 3-1 to meiji.

Now for 3rd place matches, Ali (blanka) vs Meiji (Honda), Meiji lose to ali cause of turtle style and many of throw that meiji cannot escape.

For the final, it’s between Juntaro and me, both are ryu players. Also this match can be seen like Japanese representative vs Indonesia (jakarta) representative, lol. I won against him 3-1. The highlight of this match was when I pulled out Ultra after he hadoken and won the game, and when I made lucky comeback with 1% HP while he still around 3/4 of HP, haha.

About Juntaro itself, from my point of view, he showed me the japanese (or singapore?) playing style, showing his zoning ability and playing safe. But if you wanna compare him with Japanese top players, I think there’s still a gap between him and top players.

Part 2: VEGATournament April 12, Bandung

Last week, I’d been invited by gamestation crew to participate their Street Fighter IV event. I went there with my parents, departed from home 7 AM and arrived at Bandung 8.30 AM, wow… That was quite fast, I kinda proud of myself while using not really speedcar lol, jk. VEGA open around 11 so I traveling bandung, having breakfast, window shopping at those distros (home made wear cool stuff).

After arrived at VEGA (games store), there’s tournament the run at 360. If you compare to Jakarta, Bandung has fewer players than jakarta, only around 10 people, sadly. I wish with this kind of competition, the number of players will raise.

also, the VEGA crew also participate in this tournament. They made the rules like VGI tournament. Well in this tournament, I try to use dhalsim for my 1st ticket because after learning him, play with him is so much fun. hahah

The final for the pool is against Zangief, his zangief reminds me with Meiji Zangief. And I can say maybe he is one of the best bandung players currently. I almost lose because I did some mistake, like using anti air for his jump but whiffed because the wrong distance measurements. When it whiff, I got raped by ultra, ouch! it really hurts!

and for the Next Pool (Pool C), I again bought another ticket and play Ryu. Won the pool at final vs blanka, after beat Ali from the last Tournament, I was well known to handle blanka with Ryu, thx ali for giving me some EXP.

and for the last pool (Pool E), I bought another and kinda confuse of which character that Im gonna play. Thinking about cammy (after playing her insipired by Allen and SRK forum) , gief, rufus, or ken. But I think I wanna show some flashy stuff with Ken. (thinking that wanna show people with his kara throw and full shinryuken in combo, haha… so naive). But the VEGA crew put his one of the best player ricky (claw) to against me. Wow, I never have any EXP matchup with claw. And yes during my 1st game on this pool, I lose to him 2-1.

If you wanna know about his claw, I can really say it wasnt good claw at all, he just using newbie tools to win the game (crossup claw) and his interesting button config. Let’s say he change config with 360 pad to: 1 button for  Throw,1 button for PPP,1 button forKKK. I just realized this after lose to him, lol. Thats why he always he using his EX while he got one. And he play just turtle, waiting for hadoken to came out and pull the jump crossup, never try to attack, and in close distance he just JUMP attack or JUmp and throw throw throw or baiting me to did reversal SRK and punish with throw. Haha, Well I learned matchup with vega after playing with him, that the player who just play basic still can win if you don’t know how to handle him well.

So the finalist for each pool is me (winner Pool A & C), blanka dude (winner Pool B), and claw dude (winner Pool D & E)

Then they think gonna runs the final with league system. As for myself, I won with Ryu and Dhalshim, I forfeit Ryu and try Dhalsim at the final.

And For the league, I won with those two (blanka & claw). the 2nd place is claw dude, and the rest is blanka dude.

After that I play 2-3 games casual with the Bandung community, but after that I have to go back to Jakarta because it’s 5:30 already and my parents already picked me up.

It’s nice to see that Bandung still have community eventho it’s very few of people to play. I hope when I get there next time I can play more casual with those dudes.

And today, for the open 64 slots (total registered participants was around 70++ people) , unfortunately some people not attended in the tourney, so the total players only 52 people.

This tournament  used Single Elimination system, with 4 pools bracket (A,B,C,D). Good Players in the tournament splitted into each group, but I got in the same group with the one of the strong player.

As for me, my game at the tournament above my expectations. I was really nervous at first because I kinda incossistent pulling some move eg FADC ultra, often I mistaken to pull Ultra but came out SRK (EX). That’s really annoying. But during the whole tournament, I just did minor mistake, eg. I intend to do cr. HP x HP SRK but the result came out cr. HP x hadoken. I did fatal mistake like SRK FADC ultra but came out EX SRK. My 1st opponent was regular Ken player who not really good. One thing that I remembered in this match just when I try to do wakeup hadoken in the sort of mid range of him, He used ultra Shinryuken and hit my end of the finger nail?!?!^&@^@&!?*&&*# After won againts him, 2nd Match was againts Zangief. Still not good player but his SPD scared me…. I think too much and made me really defensive because I’m really scared to making mistake if I played offensively.  I just try zoning, and this gief player just JUMP all the way without used hir Green Glove. Yeah, I cameback and won this match after lose the 1st match. (Using best 2 of 3 matches bout). And the 3rd, final match of me, againts Meiji_99, veteran SF2 ST player who used Gief too. His Gief is not really good, played like ST. Only did cr. MK then LP SPD (fortunately, I was very idiot to try to interupt his SPD with SRK but failed and grabbed by him). This happened many times, how idiot am I?!?!? then, the other thing he did just J. HP all along and Lariat. Gosh, I lose to this kind of gief because my lack of EXP, which is actually I really can handled it because When I playing LIVE I already know the gief matchup, but this tournament pressure kills me….. Made so many mistakes againts him x_x

Yeah, I lost to him and I failed to become the champion of the pool. The semi final & grand final players are Meiji_99 (Zangief), Harman (Zangief) [they are bothers, FYI], Boma (Guile), and Ken_Mike77(Ryu)

Well, the semi final & grand final gameplay is really similar to super turbo, I mean, they just used regular ST combo. Yes, no FADC ultra, no link, no anything SF4 stuff. This like scrubby  gameplay but they played with good basic. Kinda dissapointed because The winner of the tournament standard is very far than the Japanese players out there.

I envy and sad because I failed to getting to the semi final. My luck has runned out for the last Tekken6BR Tag Team Tournament last week. :/

PS: I should used Gief instead Ryu, because they changed the rule suddenly. I was kind of have dilemma yesterday which one I have to choose at the tournament. To made it sure, I played LIVE using gief, and people at LIVE know how to handle Gief, but These people in the tournament don’t! Crap!

Preparing myself for the next week tournament by VGI, each player can buy max 3 tickets. Each ticket has to has different character. My plan so far to use Ryu, Gief, and for the last ticket… Will it be Sagat….. or Gouki?

Today all our local Arcade (XXI& 21) Tekken 6 have been upgraded to BR! I just ran into Taman Anggrek XXI to test it ASAP after I got the news from our community. After playing it from 1 PM to 10 PM, 1st impression about BR….

The other day I read BR review about how the game changed, from graphic to gameplay. Yes, I’m really agreed with that dude. You will notice when selection character show character face close up transparancy, it looks like the pixel stretch so doesnt look really cool, the other thing about the smoother graphic because the blurr/anti-aliansing effect been noticed too, especially when you in the temple T6 stage, the shadow effect from the sun clearly seeable. The character movement also looks like manga/komik movement effect or air brush painting a bit. But after playing some time,  You’ll adapt it.

About the gameplay, I felt like playing T6 with some minor change, that is wall system & low parry properties, intead all character nerfted & buff. And for the 1st day, I tested some characters, they are: Kazuya, DJ, Bryan, Hei, Hwoarang, & Lars. Never have trouble with EWGF at all, at first it kinda weird tho, but after adjust a little, it comes very like the usual.

Kazuya: about the EWGF hitbox taht been rumour been nerfted, I felt it been nerfted a bit but I still pulled out 4 EWGF easilly. Kaz new move f+3 is good, df+321 also good. TP still can punished Steve ff+2, I assumed it still -13 on block, even after TP changed to 13 fr from 12 fr. 112 wallsplat no more, but 11>2 still work. Bad thing is I failed to pulled out df+2 CH to launch EWGF.

Devil Jin: The most nerfted mishima, HS KND juggle NCC only, still NC but not KND, give big damage but the scary factor is gone, if abuse HS too much can irritated people, tho? WS+1,2 launch no more even it’s CH. I wonder how to play him at the high level game? His new move u+4~U and f+4,3~U… hmmm u+4~U better I think, f+4,3~U NCC for launch, ff+4 homing move seems useless. 11>2 still works too. Also, I was confuse to connect ff+3 after his new WS+2, but after analyse it, the problem solved.

Heihachi: I see how this char buff with his new d+1 property. Just imagine, when pulled out 3 EWGF, the last EWGF throw opponent kinda far but d+1 still hit!  O_o and the only mishima 112 still wallsplat. I forgot tested about his 11>2, maybe still connect  like the others?

Bryan: I felt him like T6 but with more addition to buffed him up. His ff+4 nowhoming, 1+2,2 is good, db+1+2 also good.

Hwoarang: same as abovem, his new homing mid b+4 (KND ifCH), and uf+3+4,4 (works too in RFF) is  a nice addition at wall, I like it. And his new move RFF d+4 is good for oki.

Lars: I tried to use him without knowing any single of his command list, lol! I just printed the juggle combo, try his combo, and the move that I used just part of the combo, general move, and random things that I found during the test, lol! I have no idea about his move in Dynamic Entry (DE), even I didnt know how to pull out Silent Entry (SE), ha! Anyway, I also pulled out his iSW after B!  and I think his iSW just for flashy, coz the damage isn’t good enough and his iSW just so-so….

overall from the 1st time playing BR: not really fascinanting, just very usual.

Anyway, now he is back at Street Fighter IV and in the Arcade Magazine (Japanese Game Magazine, AFAIK) Dec, marked Jan Edition, has DVD included a special for SFIV where they held a kumite between Daigo and six of the top players in the country from different games. He only lose to Mago who use Sagat, and those matched that Daigo had are awesomeness, giving me goosebumps while watching it! As a uber nub of street fighter player, I was really amazed when the timing of Daigo pullout Shoryuken, it is like pullout EWFG in Tekken. So scary!

In this competition, every team will represent to play variety of games, such as Need For Speed, Winning Eleven (Pro Evolution Soccer), Counter Strike, and the last Virtua Fighter 5!

As a virtua fighter player, I was invited to play VF5. However, this show is a total joke, the host didn’t know anything about the game, just want to know how good the tv show rating. And they use PS3 for the console competition game, which is they used VF5 ver. B….

So if you curious about the competition looks like, just watch it! But, don’t expect much,  unless you don’t know WTF is going on… lol, just enjoy the show.

Another information, Philippine have Tekken 6 BR arcade cabinet for playtest while their having international event at TimeZone.

Hope the international version will release out soon.  Approximately around January or February.

Xbox360 NXE update is very brilliant idea, especially with HDD games install. I like a lot this feature, because some games really have loooong loading to play.

And FYI, in this December, microsoft also give NXE updated avatar for winter outfits, and you will get it automatically if you just signed in to XBOX LIVE. (very quick update, I even don’t realize)

As for me, I’m so happy because if namco is planning to release on xbox 360, fall 2009 later, in the Next WCG 2010, I think there will be Tekken as well. Maybe for 2009 WCG would be Street Fighter or Soul Calibur IV.
